Turtle Tattoos

Turtle Tattoos
If your thinking of getting a turtle tattoo there are many different styles available to you. You can choose from a tribal turtle, to a cartoon type turtle or even an actual depiction of a turtle as shown in the picture. But, there is one thing for certain. Turtle tattoos have a very deep and well established symbolism especially in Native American cultures. The turtle is a major character in Native American mythology. In some stories the turtle is responsible for creating North America and in other stories turtles are responsible for the creation of the entire world!! According to the vast majority of these stories, the spirit of the sky was looking down from the heavens through a hole she had found when suddenly she fell through and plummeted into the vast waters below. Concerned for her life, the Great Sea Turtle swam deep to the bottom of the waters, scooped up some earth on its back, and carried it back to the surface as a place for Sky Spirit to stand on. But, even if your not interested in the Native American interpretations of the turtle design, a turtle tattoo can still make a deeply meaningful design. Attribute your own meanings to it and make it a part of yourself.
Turtle Tattoos
I personally am a huge fan of turtle tattoos, and this one really interested me by the way it was designed. I really like how there is water and bubbles around the turtle which were used with a cornflower blue and a pastel blue. I like turtle tattoos so much I think I am going to get a few on my arms and lower back. I just recently bought a large book with hundreds of pictures of turtle tattoos, and this really helped me decide how I want my tattoos to be designed. My family thinks I am crazy for liking them so much, but I could care less because turtle tattoos are symbolic for being strong and empowered.

I would recommend getting a tattoo of a turtle as a first choice to anyone. If you really know which tattoo you want to get then contact a local artist and have him or her show you their work and see if they can take care of the design you really want. Its not that hard once you find the right tattoo artist. I know a couple here in town that I trust with almost any tattoo I want put on. Their is one girl that is the best I have ever seen anywhere.

Chest Tattoo

Chest Tattoo
This chest tattoo brings a dark picture together with bright colors and flowers. The color’s used in this chest tattoo are green, blue, orange, pink, gold, white, tan, purple, and black, and all the colors are blended real well. The skulls in this chest tattoo are grey with hints of white around the edges and the teeth. One tooth on each skull is gold. The eye sockets on each skull start off a very light pink on the edges and fades to a black near the outer rim of the sockets. The same goes for the nose of each skull, pink near the back, black near the outer rim. Green vines flow through the nose and eye sockets of each skull. Different colored flowers, ranging from pink to green, and blue to orange, grow on the vines growing from out of the skulls. This chest tattoo is unique and original because it mixes a morbid image like a skull and the beautiful colors of flowers all in one tattoo. This is one chest tattoo that anyone would be interested in, because it mixes so many different styles of art into one piece of artwork. This is a really good tattoo.
Chest Tattoo
This is a great representation of what an average person can do with a chest tattoo. Chest tattoos can be hidden or revealed at will, so you can put just about any design there. And because there is a lot of space to work with, chest tattoos can sport some pretty large designs with a lot of different elements in them. The chest tattoo in the picture is frequently referred to as a chest piece, because it covers from shoulder to shoulder like an armors chest piece. The wearer has combined several different things in his design. On one shoulder is written the word "love", on the other is written the word "hate". In the center of this chest piece is a hand holding cards, generally used to mean luck or chance. I would venture to say that the intended symbolism of this design is to infer that all things in this life are hanging on the whims of fate. And that includes love and hate or peace and war. The again, the bearer of this chest tattoo could have simply chosen the design because it looks really hot and is done in a more traditional type of style. What do you think?

terrible Tattoo

terrible Tattoo

I did get off to a fast start and was able to make acceptable tattoos early on, but it took a few years before everything felt comfortable. Because of this, I feel that the best way to benefit your tattoo work is to tattoo, tattoo, tattoo.
Besides, I happen to know handfuls of tattoo artists that have absolutely no formal art training and they are fantastic tattoo artists. Having a formal art background might make a few things easier, but when all is said and done, it really doesn’t matter all that much.

I know you are into stock market trading in your spare time. Do you plan to do more "trading" in the years ahead? What about the market intrigues you?
I do plan on continuing to trade. It has turned into quite an obsession. I got involved with trading about five years or so ago after some terrible investments opened my eyes, I felt compelled to educate myself on my mistakes. I took a class at the local college and read every book I could get about technical analysis. I put my focus on day trading stocks because I didn’t want to hold positions overnight where I couldn’t access them in case they went against me. Nowadays, I specifically day trade the E-mini futures contracts.
After learning about the market (and continuing to learn), you realize that the charts and graphs, and all of the little squiggly lines are all representations of people and their decisions. That is what I am watching every weekday morning, a visual representation of other peoples’ opinions.

Your work is so amazing because you have such diverse capabilities in so many genres; from technical portraiture/realism to inclusions of gothic & ornamental themes. What is your favorite type of piece to work on? Thank you. I get this question a lot and I really have a hard time answering it. I honestly like so many styles and types of tattooing that I have never really focused on one over the other.

I must say, that I truly enjoy the challenge of reproduction and detail. It is very technical and I tend to view myself as a technical tattoo artist. I love to do portraits and photo reproductions for this reason. Although, if I had to do this kind of tattooing all of the time, I believe I would end up getting bored.

I am very fortunate to have clients that allow me to work on a full spectrum of form, style and direction. I believe that it is important to remain flexible within your work simply to achieve freedom and prevent artistic confinement.
Maybe having said all of this, I enjoy reproducing detail—I am open to color or black and grey. If I am to do custom work I often lean toward gothic or ornamental design elements, but it would completely fall around the request of the client.

Artist Donny Tattoo

Artist Donny Tattoo

During the course of me getting tattooed (by artist Donny Cox) it was revealed to me that the owner of the shop was looking for another tattoo artist. I approached the owner (Terry “Tramp” Welker) and he agreed to take me on as his apprentice. I quit the university and set out for a whole new style of art training, and in 1992 began to tattoo full time; so, not quite the art professor that I had originally imagined, but in the art field nonetheless. I think it was a wise direction to go in.

Professor Tattoo

http://art-tattooos.blogspot.com/

Have you always been interested in art? When you were a child, did you envision yourself working as an artist (or tattoo artist) when you grew up?

Yes I have, and yes I did. Ever since I can remember that is all that I wanted to be. I started very young trying to draw “stuff”—from comics to animals. Basically, just tried to make my drawings look like what I was looking at. When I hit high school, I began to take art more seriously, and began taking private art classes. Later, I qualified to enroll in an advance art program from another nearby high school and did that for a while with the plans of going to college to fulfill a fine arts degree. Well, I made it to college (Wayne State University in Detroit), and was working on that art degree with all of the best intentions to become an art Professor.

Realism in a Tattoo

<br />Realism in a TattooCalifornia artist, Janice Urnstein Weissman, has a series of paintings featuring nude figures covered in tattoos. At first I thought her paintings were artistic photography or perhaps, a great exercise of Photoshop manipulartion that is catching on lately. But, in fact, they are beautiful works of oil paintings. She has created beautiful pieces of art with the subject matter of intricate tattoo designs adorning the skin of the subjects.

They are barely nudes there is so much ink work on their bodies. As with most unique artists, she has a passion behind her art – her intent is to create to raise awareness about feminism’s impact on culture. Her work is currently on the website of the Brooklyn Museum – check out other pieces with the same subject matter.

Arm Tattoo

Hawaiian Arm Tattoo and Arm Band Tattoos.

One of the largest and most developing trends in design hawaii arm tattoo or leg band tattoos. Arm TattooAs this trend is happening many people think for themselves, well of course. At least that's what I said to myself at first. You can not drive more than 10 minutes on the freeway in Southern California where I was from and did not see the big SUVs like the Lincoln Navigator or Cadillac Escalade and not see the sticker Hawaii. This with flowers designs, or turtles, dolphins. Ya see it started with stickers and then the car seat covers with hibiscus flowers everywhere and just grew from there.

This trend of Hawaiian design that is suitable then meet with the tribal arm tattoo movement. Tribal tattoo has become the hottest thing in the tattoo world since sliced bread or the old school WWII era Hula dancer. You see these influences have been around us for a long time my grandpa even has one of them still Hula Girls tattoos. Indeed it is a little saggy and faded now, but he still has one in his arm fixed.

So the whole tribal arm tattoo and the growth rates for Hawaiian designs have combined to make a hot and growing market for Hawaiian tattoos. This is truly a thing to come up and not big and it has not. But many tattoo artists to see the trend and jumped on it already.

Of course there is much controversy about this also like anything. If you look on the internet there is controversy about getting Kanji and Japanese Tattoos also. Every time you tryArm Tattoo and take the design of a culture and do not accurately describe it creates a sense of bastardization or what I call the "Disney Effect" of culture. I mean how would you feel if you were in China and someone said, oh, you should try this hot new restaurant serving food out of this truly American. They have fried chicken and apple pie is the best. "Well, at first you will be happy right? Course it would be fun for a good home cooked meal if you have been out of the U.S. for a long time. But once you get there you see the place has really tacky and awful reproductions of 50's art and all the food tastes kind of strange. It would probably bee kind of close or resemble what you think about but it will lose something or some key elements. I'm sure it will make you feel a little sad and like your culture is not fully understood.

Well, I can not speak for you and you might feel differently but I'm pretty sad when after staying in Japan for 3 months I was invited to a classic hamburger in the 1950s together. Arm TattooWhen we got there it was Elvis with a funny accent playing on the jukebox and when my hamburger came it fried egg on top of it with teriyaki sauce. WOW what a surprise for me. I felt a bit strange being in a place that has tried to create something of my own culture.

Thus, the same controversy in the world of bread in the arm tattoo. Every time you get a arm tattoo design from another culture just make sure you go to a professional. Your friends do not have to track some Kanji in a book for tattoos and do not go and rip some design of the Internet because it states that it is Hawaii. Go to a real custom tattoo designer and ask them to do research and come up with some designs. After all this will be in your body for the rest of your life and since Hawaiian arm tattoo band tattoos and leg tattoos are great it would be a significant investment in pain, time and money to get things done. So, you should consult with a professional and get top notch job. By Chris Ryerson
